July 31/Aug 1        James 2:14-26        Faith by Works Purpose:  to articulate the role of works in the Christian life and identify the major disconnects between faith and works in Aug 7/8        James 3        Faith and the Tongue Purpose: to illustrate the destructiveness of unwholesome talk in one’s life and to present strategies to enable more edifying speech Aug 14/15        James 4:1-12        Faith, Grace and Law Purpose: to show consequences of the exercise of your will (whether in submission to God or independently of Him) Aug 21/22        James 4:13-5:6    Faith Values Purpose: to demonstrate the folly of forsaking eternal values for immediate temporal benefit Aug 28/29        James 5:7-20        Faith and Patience Purpose:  to articulate the fact that patience is persevering under duress to sin and to share specific ways in which we fail to maintain patience in our spiritual walk PILLARS OF CHRISTIAN TRUTH SERIES Purpose: to teach basic Christian theology to equip the believer to deal with the challenges of the Christian life Sept 4/ 5        The Pillar of Scripture Purpose: To enable people to understand what the bible is, where it came from, its inerrancy and what is the difference between inspiration, illumination and revelation and why it is so important for the life of believers Sept 11/12     The Pillar of God the Father Purpose: To explain who the God of the bible is, the doctrine of the Trinity and define and explain several significant names and attributes of Jehovah God Sept 18/19     The Pillar of God the Son Jesus Christ Purpose: To explain who God the Son is – appearances of the preincarnate Christ in the Old Testament, His incarnation, His simultaneous humanity and divinity, and His role in creation and redemption; to share incorrect ideas about the identity of Jesus Christ Sept 25/26     The Pillar of God the Holy Spirit Purpose: To identify the divinity, person and work of the Holy Spirit, his various ministries in the lives of believers and His role in human history Oct 2/3         The Pillar of  Creation Purpose:  To explain God’s activity and purpose in creation and the significance of young earth creationism in our lives today Oct 9/10         The Pillar of  Humanity Purpose: To illustrate man’s preeminent position in God’s realm of creation Oct 16/17         The Pillar of Predestination Purpose: to provide basic understanding of issues regarding predestination.
